Bozeman Health RN- Urology Clinic (Casual Call) in Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the health care team, plans and implements patient and family education and is responsible for assessing the needs and initiating appropriate intervention for patients.

In this fast-paced, highly procedural department, urology nurses utilize many hands-on skills including:

Sterile technique, catheterization of both men and women, assisting with diverse in-office urologic procedures, administering intravesical immunotherapy/chemotherapy bladder cancer treatments, phlebotomy, urinalysis, and urine microscopy. Urology nurses utilize critical thinking skills on issues from kidney stones to cancer in order to triage complex patient issues both in person and over the phone.

A urology nurse must be compassionate when dealing with private and personal issues and must be an excellent educator to provide patients with detailed information pertinent to urology diagnoses. Must have excellent communication skills to be aware of healthcare provider and patient needs, and must be a facilitator of recommendations for follow up care. Urology nurses also participate in data collection for the clinic to help ensure quality, patient-centered care is delivered. Ability to function within a highly skilled and supportive team is crucial to success in this department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse)

  • American Heart Association BLS

  • Competence in and a willingness and ability to practice modified primary nursing

  • Preferred: Certified Urologic Registered Nurse

  • Preferred: Outpatient clinic experience preferred

  • Preferred: Knowledge of electronic health record operating systems preferred

  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues (Diagnosis)

  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation

  • Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes (Plan of Care)

  • Implements the identified plan of care

  • Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment

  • Systematically enhances the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice

  • Attains knowledge and competency that reflects current nursing practice

  • Evaluates one’s own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations

  • Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and colleagues

  • Collaborates with patient, family and others in the conduct of nursing practice

  • Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice

  • Integrates research findings into practice

  • Provides leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession
