Fortive Corporation Electrical Engineer in Boxborough, Massachusetts

Gems Setra has an outstanding opportunity for an electrical engineer to join our talented team that develops highly engineered products for a range of industrial markets and customers. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing electrical designs - both analog and digital with embedded firmware. This is a hands-on technical position focused on new product development. The ideal candidate will be expected to contribute to the design, development and full product validation. We’re looking for someone that is highly motivated, can work independently and drive product development activities with little direct supervision.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop the electronics design / electrical circuit from concept through release to production based upon the overall product requirements.

  • Ensure compliance of core products to all applicable regulatory requirements

  • Document all design work, generate new BOM and ECOs as required.

  • ·May be assigned additional projects and responsibilities at the sole discretion of the manager/supervisor.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Background and exposure to analog and digital design including the use of op-amps, comparators, A/D – D/A converters, regulators, 8/16/32 micro controllers, digital logic, optoelectronics and displays, communications hardware, analog filters, switch mode power supplies up to 30W and EMC filtering components.

  • Understanding of regulatory compliance certifications, how that translates to product design and product validation including UL (and other safety agencies including FM, CSA), CE and RoHS

  • Firmware development, debug and validation in C/C++ Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layouts with experience using electrical engineering CAD tools, preferably Altium

  • Excellent documentation discipline including schematics, bill of materials, assembly drawing, version control and test reports.

  • Inquisitive, seeks to understand areas that are new to develop fundamental understanding of technical issues and phenomenon, learns quickly and asks probing questions to achieve problem solving.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Required:

  • 3+ years of experience in product development

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, preferably post graduate degree or advanced studies

  • Experience of developing and launching products from concept to production release meeting all performance specifications including EMC, safety, and other related agency certification is a plus.

  • Experience of designing embedded systems and/or mixed signal design from concept to production release is a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • Firmware experience (embedded C for ARM Cortex M micros) including tool chain (ARM/Keil MDK V5) and middleware components

  • Trained to use supporting R&D tools like SVN, Jira & Miro (Agile techniques in R&D process)

  • Good skills in architectural design of embedded systems (digital core & mixed signal data acquisition)
