Job Purpose:

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | The Shipping/Receiving Material Handler oversees the daily shipping | | and receiving operations and assures the accuracy of all goods | | shipped out to customers and received in from vendors. The | | Shipping/Receiving Material Handler counts and verifies the | | quantities and part numbers of all products shipped out and received | | into the facility and passes the necessary documentation on to the | | shipping coordinator or the purchasing agent. | | | | The Shipping/Receiving Material Handler should be well-organized, | | detail oriented, comfortable with information systems, capable of | | filing the necessary paperwork and entering information into the | | shipping/inventory management systems employed by the company. | +-----------------------------------------------------------------------+

 Duties and Responsibilities:

+-----------------------------------------------------------------------+ | - Pulling and staging freight for shipment. | | - Loading of all out-bound freight and equipment. | | - Receiving of all in-bound freight and equipment. | | - Inspection of all in-bound and out-bound freight for damage. | | - Verifying the part number and quantity of all inbound and | | out-bound freight. | | - Transferring in-bound freight to the inventory control department | | for storage. | | - Receiving customer returns and ensuring the proper documentation | | is passed along to the shipping coordinator and the quality | | manager/supervisor. | | - Processing small package shipments including customer routed drop | | shipments (i.e., post protector UPS shipments.) and outbound | | internal shipments (i.e., maintenance shipments) | | - Receiving and delivery of all small package shipments. (i.e., Fed | | Ex and UPS small package deliveries). | | - Use of software to check inventory, track shipments, and process | | shipments. | | - Performing physical inventories as needed to ensure that customer | | orders have been completed prior to shipment scheduling. | | - Generating the necessary shipping documents such as the bill of | | lading, packing list, load sheets, and all relevant international | | customs documents when the shipping coordinator is unavailable. | | - Forklift operation and maintenance including documenting | | equipment issues/concerns. | | - Filing the completed shipping documents with the appropriate | | party.  Qualifications and Education Requirements:

 Physical Requirements & Working Conditions: Work is performed in a warehouse environment and in close proximity to other workers. Incumbent shall be expo to those conditions normally encountered in a business office environment and is occasionally subject to outdoor examination settings with exposure to diverse weather conditions such as wind, heat, cold, and rain. Physical demands are moderate, consisting primarily of sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying moderately heavy boxes up to 50 pounds and/or utilizing a hand dolly. Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood. Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
