Summary of Responsibilities
The Logistics Planning Engineer will lead the study, design and implementation of material flow projects to continuously improve processes and system capabilities. Researches and advises process design, equipment, workflow, layout and space requirements, and manpower utilization for optimization and maximum efficiency. This role requires strong industrial engineering fundamentals and understanding of material handling systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and maintain material flow and storage of product from receiving, production, warehousing, and shipping
Full responsibility of PFEP (Place For Every Part) ensuring up to date layout matches
Materials MAFACT subject matter expert on pull systems, material storage and internal material flow
Maintain awareness of introduction of new product and process changes regarding the material flow including updating of related parameters in the involved material systems
Drive improvements to manpower efficiency including the balancing of all material handling personnel
Perform time studies on process improvements and continuous improvement activities for Logistics department
Develop and maintain process of an optimal industrial vehicle fleet management
Develop warehousing models (square feet, manpower and transportation required) for bank builds, launch curves, new equipment
Estimate and quote capital costs associated with launches and order capital items in a timely manner. (Guarding, high bay racking, flow racks, rollers, bollards)
Support initiatives to reduce inventory and overflow
Develop detailed material flow models for new and existing products to project material flow headcount, assess congestion, execute on buffer quantities, and ensure overall feasibility
Work closely with manufacturing engineering teams to develop a plan to deliver every part via one piece flow
Fully detail manual solutions while conceptually modeling automated solutions to collaborate with automation design teams on business cases
Develop innovative, cost-effective solutions with the packaging team for part presentation, packing density, and sustainability in automated and manual solutions
Work with internal manufacturing engineering teams to ensure that equipment and layout designs align with the overall material flow plan for the factory
Assists in process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training
Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment using AutoCad and/or applicable software
Assist in developing and implementing standard work procedures for Logistics department
Prepares reports, charts, cost justifications and other documentation required for projects and records
Assist customers, vendors and other departments to implement the following: process changes; quality improvements; productivity improvements and cost reduction programs
Engage and champion corporate initiatives in order to promote World Class Manufacturing
Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; or, an Associate’s degree in engineering with 2 – 5 years of related experience is required
2+ years of industrial or manufacturing engineering experience with emphasis on layout and/or material flow (internship experience may be considered)
Understanding of material delivery methods (i.e. powered industrial equipment, automated guided vehicles, conveyor, rail-guided vehicles) and strategies (i.e. forklift-free)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Office and manufacturing plant which is characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise and considerable forklift traffic
The individual must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees, management, customers and suppliers.
Able to work flexible hours, evenings, weekends and additional hours as required
