The School of Kinesiology, Recreation, and Sport (KRS) at Western Kentucky University (WKU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position in the Exercise Science program. The faculty member will have the primary responsibilities of teaching, research, and service functions as well as obligations that contribute to the attainment of the mission of the University, School, and Program. The faculty member will begin duties in August 2024.

Exercise Science is a growing academic program, and we are seeking candidates who are excited to grow and shape our program and the School of KRS. Applicants should be able to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching three courses (undergraduate and/or graduate) per semester

  • Demonstrate ongoing scholarly activities (research publications, presentations, external/internal grant applications, etc.) that enhance and deepen the knowledge base in Kinesiology.

  • Active pursuit of professional development opportunities you will advise students each semester (typically 15-30)

  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students who wish to complete independent studies, honor's theses, or graduate theses (at your discretion)

  • Provide service to Exercise Science, KRS, CHHS, and WKU

  • Participate in relevant professional organizations.

  • Terminal degree in a relevant discipline (applicants may be ABD at the time of submission, but degree must be awarded by start date).
