Job Information

Google Customer Engineer, Application Modernization, Google Cloud in Boulder, Colorado

The application window will be open until at least April 16, 2024. This opportunity will remain online based on business needs which may be before or after the specified date.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 10 years of experience serving in the capacity of a pre-sales engineer at an enterprise technology company, or equivalent experience in a similar customer facing role (e.g., within a professional services, solutions architect, or systems engineering team).

  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders and experience with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the cloud/IT technology space.

  • Experience with legacy and modern application development, cloud service delivery, and deployment and experience with containers (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker) and associated technologies (e.g., Istio, Envoy).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or other relevant technical field.

  • Experience with cloud-native software development methodologies and tools within application development/deployment stages including CI/CD (i.e., Jenkins, Spinnaker, Concourse).

  • Experience in networking, virtualization, open protocols, application acceleration, VPNs and their application to PaaS and IaaS technologies, routing and firewalls, and logging and monitoring of hybrid-cloud workloads.

  • Experience with developing scalable architectures using API management, microservice frameworks, PaaS, container orchestration systems, or other applicable platforms (e.g., Knative) and large-scale VMware (i.e. 6.5+) deployments.

  • Ability to address application security patterns including web application security, service mesh, and mobile security.

You will help prospective, existing customers, and partners understand the power of Google Cloud, develop creative cloud solutions and architectures to solve their business issues, and problem-solve any potential technical roadblocks.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$214,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Work with the team to identify and qualify business opportunities, understand key customer technical objections, and develop a strategy to resolve technical blockers.

  • Provide in-depth enterprise infrastructure/cloud modernization expertise to support the technical relationship with Google’s customers, including product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, and partner directly with product management to prioritize solutions impacting customer adoption to Google Cloud.

  • Guide customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environment(s), provide recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for application modernization, and identify applications for migration to hybrid-cloud computing models.

  • Structure and execute prototyping workshops to prove out proposed new architectures, developing best practices, and documenting key blocking requirements for prioritization with engineering.

  • Travel to customer sites, conferences, and other related events as required.
