We are looking for a motivated and creative leader to help shape and support our mission. Performs development engineering in support of contracted programs, B&P activities, and IRAD efforts. Assists in new business and follow-on activities. Independently applies a high degree of creative ability, engineering skill, and judgment in applying engineering principles in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, gas dynamics, mechanics, and thermodynamics to the design, development, qualification, and production of gas generators, pressurization systems, inflation systems and guidance systems. Major Position Responsibilities Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates detailed phases of engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope. Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices, but which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting requirements, unsuitability of conventional approaches, and difficult coordination requirements. Makes full use and application of standard engineering principles, theories, concepts, techniques, and company technical history. Understands all conventional aspects of the functional area of the assignment. Plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Understands and is capable of implementing standard approaches to problem prevention and problem solution. Works closely with other functional organizations giving technical direction that establishes technical approach, priorities, and expedites the design and manufacturing test of company products. Independently develops end-items, devices, components, modules, and subsystems, which generally involve standard approaches, but which may require employment of non-conventional methods and techniques. Directly organizes and coordinates technical aspects of the analysis, design, development, and qualification activities. Assures that the analyses are appropriate, based on correct ground rules and assumptions, and that the analyses' conclusions are correctly utilized by design. Other duties as assigned.
