Actalent Mechanical Engineer III in Bothell, Washington

Description:

The Mechanical Engineer III is a principal level engineering position, with extensive and broad knowledge in the field, and typically knowledge of other fields. Typically, lead cross functional product development efforts on complex projects with significant potential business contribution. Develop and manage the project budget to ensure return on investment is achieved. Focuses on modifying existing products. Demonstrates creativity and ingenuity in applying engineering principles and practices and draw solutions from a wider range of experience. Very proficient in resolving design, processing, and production problems in a timely manner. Assignments are broad in nature. Work under minimal supervision and responsible for defining technical approaches to projects. Able to adapt methods to solve problems and exercise creativity to resolve complex issues. Work is stated in terms of objectives, requiring project planning and judgment. May have overall project responsibility. Act as technical authority in area of specialty on assigned projects. Will act as lead on most assigned projects and assist lower-level engineers and technicians. Coordinate testing and validation to ensure adherence to specification, reliability, quality, and customer satisfaction. May have a team of 6-8 direct reports of engineers or specialized technicians.

In the first year the expectation is the consultant will define what product line they are responsible for, create roadmaps for product lines for the next 1-3 years, build a team that gets regular wins in line with company short and long term goals. Support QA and production with needed documentation. Define format for product documentation.

In 1-3 years the expectation is that the consultant will train new personal added to the team, execute on the product road map, hit deadlines, document to a level of detail where it won't need to be fixed.

  2. With oversight and direction, find new vendors, work with them to establish quality expectations, obtain costing, validate performance, and may do some cost analysis.

  3. Establish production parameters and train to these expectations on the production level. Follow up on a long-term basis.

  4. Develop professional visual aids and PowerPoint documents to make presentations on specific products.

  5. Specify and purchase some production equipment.

  6. May travel to customers to resolve field issues.

  7. Work on the manufacturing floor when needed.
