Commonwealth Care Alliance Supervisor, Health Information Management (Remote) in Boston, Massachusetts

Why This Role is Important to Us:

Position Summary:

The Health Information Management (HIM) Supervisor is responsible for the daily planning and monitoring of department operations, staffing and coordinating tasks to ensure timely completion to meet regulatory requirements at CCA.

  • Yes, which includes but is not limited to providing leadership, work direction, and performance feedback to subordinate staff.

  • The HIM Supervisor shall supervise eight (8) Health Information Specialists

  • Hires and trains staff.

  • Conducts annual performance reviews and corrective action counseling.

What You'll Be Doing:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises, plans, and organizes the activities of the Health Information Specialists including scheduling and overseeing daily assignment and monitoring of both quality and quantity of the work completed. Delegates assignments and monitors workflow.

  • Responsible for performing quality reviews of medical records uploaded to assess regulatory compliance with completeness of data and information, timeliness, accuracy, and authentication requirements.

  • Audits and identifies incorrect entries, document uploads in the medical records, and provides prompt feedback and training to responsible staff.

  • Follows through until corrections are completed and maintains necessary documentation to substantiate corrections.

  • Actively fosters staff development, including training and re-training as needed. Has regular one-on-one meetings with employees. Holds Team Meetings as necessary.

  • Generates weekly and end of month reports to track productivity and statistically relevant data. Performs analysis upon said statistical data to engage process improvement and increase efficiency.

  • Assists with the development of Standards of Practice (SOP) and Reference Guides (RG) related to the HIM department.

  • Participate in projects and meetings as required.

  • Maintains and coordinates adequate scheduling and staffing to support operational needs.

What We're Looking For:

Education Required:

  • Associate degree in Health Information Technology or Equivalent Experience

Education Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management (RHIA).

  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification.

Required Experience (must have):

  • 2 years’ experience in a medical office or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Experience (nice to have):

  • RHIT certification will be considered in lieu of 2-year experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Required):

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.

  • Attention to details and prompt follow-up.

  • Ability to function in a faced paced setting.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

  • Demonstrates computer skills usage.

  • Interest in professional growth.

Language:

  • English (Required)

  • Secondary language is not required but a plus.
