Position:

You will be a member of our engineering team that focuses on our market research product which is used by nearly a quarter of all Fortune 500 companies. This is a full stack role where you will improve our existing Ruby on Rails product. You will work closely with your teammates to roll out new products and capabilities and help wherever your interests and skills fit.

Job Duties:

Design and develop facial expression recognition software for Media Analytics division.

Specific duties include:

  • Develop Media Analytics platform by migrating the existing framework from Groovy on Grails to Ruby on Rails.

  • Implement software modifications in the Ruby language and implement software tests to ensure functionality of the Media Analytics platform.

  • Implement strategic technical features in Affectiva’s software products by developing code for facial expression recognition software technology for Media Analytics.

  • Enhance Affectiva’s Media Analytics platform by analyzing and resolving technical software bugs.

  • Perform code review and communicate with other Software Engineers within the sprint team to enhance our software’s system capabilities.

  • Use automated tools such as shell, Python, and Ruby, among others, to perform unit testing, performance testing, and static/dynamic analysis of Affectiva’s facial expression recognition software.

  • Consult with customers to analyze software system design, and develop enhancements based on customer feedback.

  • Analyze user needs and user experience of Affectiva’s Media Analytics software technology and determine software requirements and feasibility of design

  • Maintain our software applications through a continuous integration system

  • Develop and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure for Media Analytics.

  • Maintain and support internal Security and permissions for Cloud infrastructure.

  • Analyze software requirements and create a backlog of tasks using project management tool.

    Position requirements: Master’s degree in computer science, information systems or a closely related field, and four years of experience performing full-stack software development.  Experience must include:

  • 3 years of industry experience developing applications using HTML and CSS.

  • 3 years of experience utilizing SQLJMySQL to store and retrieve data.

  • 3 years of experience developing RESTFUL APIs.

  • 3 years of experience using Bootstrap framework to develop front-end user interfaces with CSS.

  • 3 years of experience following JavaScript frameworks: JQuery, ES5/6, and D3.js/ chart.js.

  • 2 years of experience developing web frameworks using Ruby on Rails, Django or Laravel (PHP).

  • 2 years of experience performing scripting and automation using shell, Python (v2 and v3), Ruby or PHP using Test driven development.

  • 2 years of experience of working with cloud services such as AWS, Azure or equivalent

  • 2 years of experience working with virtualization to develop and deploy applications hosted on public or private cloud.

  • 3 years of experience utilizing Git Version control including branching, rebasing and squashing.

  • 2 years of experience migrating legacy web applications to latest full stack development frameworks
