Provides respiratory therapy and other appropriate clinical interventions to patients from young adult through geriatric.

Job Description:

  1. Exemplifies the values of New England Baptist Hospital and the ROSE philosophy.

  3. Responsible for the safe and effective administration of respiratory therapy and other clinical functions:

Responsible for the following clinical therapeutic modalities:

  • Patient Assessment and Evaluation

  • Hand-held Nebulizer Therapy

  • Deep blind endotrachael aspiration

  • Artificial Airway Care

  • Aerosol Therapy

  • Pulmonary Function Testing

  • Radial Artery puncture

  • Ventilatory Management

  • Portable Oxygen Systems

  • Pulse Oximety

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

  • Bronchoscopy Assist

  • Verifies that expiration date on Respiratory Medication is current.

Collaborates effectively with Health Care Team. Utilizes Clinical resources appropriately. Accurately and completely documents assessments, clinical observations, and intervention in patient record. Maintains proper airway management including use of LMA

Attends and provides input at staff meetings. Identifies own educational needs in area of practice. Participates in in-service education and orientation.

  1. Other Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for initiating charges for patient services provided. Assists with maintaining medical gas cylinder inventory par levels and satellite storage inventory. Cleans non-disposable respiratory equipment when needed. Maintains a professional and appropriate demeanor at all times. Complies with both hospital and departmental current dress codes. Demonstrates competency in the operation of applicable computer systems as required. Acts as resource for clinical, staffing, or equipment issues when needed. Assists with patient care within the scope of practice and competency.

  1. Plans time away from work appropriately

Arrives and leaves at designated times. Uses unplanned earned time appropriately (Based on full time hours. Standards are pro-rated for part-time employees based on agreed hours)

  1. Performs other duties as required.

  2. Annual safety test.
