Boston University RESEARCH STUDY ASSISTANT, School of Medicine, Vascular Biology in BOSTON, Massachusetts

The technician will perform basic laboratory maintenance and carry out experiments for basic and translational research studies, under the direction of faculty members. Experimental protocols include ELISAs, high-throughput enzymatic activity assays, RNA and DNA isolation, and mitochondrial respirometry. Laboratory maintenance includes ordering supplies, making buffers and solutions, maintaining the chemical inventory, and preparing biospecimens for shipping.

Essential Functions General laboratory maintenance:

10% Wet Lab Experiments: 85%

Data entry: 5%

Required Skills

Bachelor's degree with 0-12 months of experience. We are seeking a highly motivated, organized, and reliable laboratory technician to join an energetic multi-disciplinary research team. The position involves carrying out general laboratory maintenance and performing experiments for basic and translational research studies in cardiovascular pathophysiology. Although not required, some bench lab experience is preferred, including robust pipetting skills and experience making buffers and solutions. A biology background is required. Qualified candidates would work in a tight-knit research team spanning various training levels, disciplines, and degrees focused on understanding the role of mitochondrial genetics and metabolism in cardiovascular pathophysiology.
