Amazon Principal, Industrial Innovation Fund in Boston, Massachusetts

Description

Amazon is seeking an investment professional who will be responsible for all parts of generating, managing and executing investments for the Industrial Innovation Fund. This role will have a particular emphasis on supporting transactions in emerging technology segments that span Amazon Operations. This professional will be a key business partner for Amazon leaders and will be highly visible at senior levels of Amazon. The ideal candidate is an independent thinker who can make convincing, data-based arguments, and is a natural networker with a track record of building networks with investors and entrepreneurs, enjoys diving deep into complex problems, works effectively with cross-functional teams, thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and excels at written and oral communication. This position is based in Seattle, WA or Boston, MA.

Key job responsibilities

• Identify opportunities that represent points of transformation for industrial automation, robotics, logistics and the broader supply chain through interaction with the technology community and with Amazon leaders

• Lead all aspects of the opportunity lifecycle across deal origination, diligence, deal structuring, negotiation and execution

• Act as a subject matter expert on the opportunity

• Manage the process of building both internal and external consensus

• Work with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, legal, finance, tax, accounting, and senior management to execute transactions

• Post transaction work with portfolio companies and Amazon teams to build relationships and drive business development opportunities for the portfolio across Amazon with an emphasis on Amazon Operations business units.

About the team

The Industrial Innovation Fund is Amazon’s early stage technology venture fund for industrial automation, robotics, logistics and broader supply chain technologies . It seeks to support entrepreneurs that solve hard problems and advancing the state of the art in their chosen field. The selected candidate will act as a primary lead across the full deal lifecycle from industry research, strategy development, due diligence, valuation analyses, deal structuring, term sheet and contract negotiations, and internal and external relationship building.

Basic Qualifications

• Strong analytical and communication skills

• Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively

• Proven track record in building and maintaining a network of entrepreneur and investor relationships to facilitate deal flow

• Experience aligning and driving cross-functional groups

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA

• Demonstrated experience in negotiating complex investments or acquisitions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $174,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $288,100/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
