We have an exciting opportunity for a presentation coach supporting Stantec’s client development programs. Reporting to the Client Development Team, as the presentation coach you will play a crucial role in helping our teams win.

As a presentation coach, you will collaborate with engineers, project managers, and technical teams to elevate their presentation abilities. Your goal is to enable them to deliver compelling, engaging, and informative presentations that resonate with diverse audiences, whether they are colleagues, clients, or stakeholders.

Your Key Responsibilities

Needs Assessment:

  • Conduct initial assessments to understand the specific needs and challenges faced by engineers and technical professionals regarding presentations.

  • Identify areas for improvement, such as content organization, delivery techniques, visual aids, and handling questions.

Coaching:

  • Develop personalized coaching plans tailored to individual engineers or teams.

  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching sessions to address specific presentation skills.

  • Offer constructive feedback on content, delivery, body language, and engagement.

Content Development:

  • Assist engineers in structuring their presentations effectively.

  • Teach techniques for creating clear, concise, and impactful content.

  • Encourage storytelling to engage the audience and convey technical information effectively.

Delivery Skills:

  • Train engineers on effective public speaking techniques.

  • Focus on voice modulation, eye contact, gestures, and overall confidence.

  • Help engineers manage nervousness and stage fright.

Audience Engagement:

  • Teach strategies for engaging diverse audiences.

  • Address techniques for handling questions, managing interruptions, and maintaining audience interest.

  • Virtual Presentation Skills:

  • Provide guidance on virtual presentation platforms (webinars, video conferences, etc).

  • Address challenges related to remote presentations, including camera presence and screen sharing.

Practice Sessions:

  • Organize mock presentation sessions to simulate real-world scenarios.

  • Offer constructive feedback and encourage continuous improvement.

  • Assessment and Progress Tracking:

  • Regularly evaluate engineers’ progress and adjust coaching strategies as needed.

  • Measure improvements in presentation skills over time.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Familiarity with engineering terminology and technical content is advantageous.

  • Ability to understand AEC challenges and tailor coaching accordingly.

  • Comfortable working with diverse personalities and adapting coaching methods to individual needs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong business acumen and experience. Ideally consulting firm, market positioning or related experience.

  • Ability to positively influence behavioral change through strategic partnership development, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

  • Collaborative and cross-functional engagement.

  • Organization and program management skills and stakeholder coordination.

Education and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in business or an equivalent level of experience.

  • International Coaching Federation (ICF) certification or equivalent is an asset.

  • Previous experience as a presentation coach, public speaking trainer, or communication specialist.

  • Minimum of 15 years in complex strategic business leadership.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience coaching and strategic support accomplishments.

  • Domestic and international travel required; up to 75%.

  • Ability to work remotely.

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):

Salary Range(s):

  • NYC $155,100 / Outside NYC $123,100 - NYC $240,400/ Outside NYC $190,800 Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in NYC/NY

  • $135,400 - $209,900 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO and HI

  • $145,300 - $225,100 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA

  • SF Area $155,100 / CA Other Areas $135,400 - SF Area $240,400 / CA Other Areas $225,100 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.

The benefits information listed above may not apply to union positions because benefits for such positions are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreements.
