Tufts Medicine Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Molecular Cardiology Research Institute in Boston, Massachusetts

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position to study wound healing in the laboratory of Dr. Lakshmi Pulakat. A highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought, ideally with prior experience in pharmacology or toxicology, to develop novel, translational therapies for expedited healing of ulcers and preventing recurrence.

The Pulakat laboratory studies basic signaling mechanisms that expedite healing of obesity and diabetes induced non-healing ulcers and develop new therapies for their expedited healing. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator to address clinically relevant questions in chronic, non-healing ulcer, and utilize molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology to study chronic wound healing in rat models and ex vivo pig and human skin. Prior experience with rat models and a willingness to learn to perform new wound assessment and transdermal delivery technologies using rats and ex vivo tissues is essential.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects and as needed, will be required to independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory. The applicant would be intimately involved in writing and presenting new discoveries. The position requires:

Minimum Qualifications :

  1. MD, PHD or both in a relevant field of study (lab based-preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

1.Prior experience in pharmacology or toxicology is desirable.

  6. Stays updated with the latest advancements and breakthroughs in healthcare research and apply relevant knowledge to ongoing projects.

  7. Assists in securing research funding by contributing to grant writing and research proposal development.

  8. Collaborates with healthcare professionals and institutions to collect clinical data and samples for research purposes.

  9. Contributes to the development and validation of new diagnostic tools, treatments, and interventions.

  10. Participates in the preparation of research reports, progress updates, and grant applications.

  11. Mentors and provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students involved in research projects.

  12. Collaborates with industry partners to translate research findings into practical applications and technologies.

  13. Collaborates with regulatory bodies and ethics committees to ensure compliance with research protocols and regulations.

  14. Contributes to the dissemination of research findings to healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the general public through various channels, such as seminars, workshops, and publications.

  15. Maintains accurate and organized records of research data, protocols, and results, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
