8 hour shifts is every other Saturday and Sunday

  • Filling and delivering medication orders/prescriptions for hospital inpatients and outpatients.

  • Filling standing inpatient medication orders in individual cassettes following computer generated lists and fills new orders/prescriptions from physician orders.

  • Delivering cassettes and individual medications to units and collects new medication orders according to established procedures and schedules.

  • Preparing patient medications in accordance with established protocols, methods and techniques.

  • Preparing special dilutions of non-controlled and controlled substances as needed. Labels and records manufactured medications as required.

  • Receiving and filling pharmaceutical supply requests for nursing units, satellite locations and other areas.

  • Monitoring, restocking and rotating routine supplies, removing and replacing outdated products and processing related patient charges and credits.

  • Performing routine quality control and equipment maintenance tasks according to established procedures and schedules.

  • Answering, screening and routing telephone calls as needed. Refers any medical/drug information questions or administrative inquiries to the pharmacist.

  • Training to measure, mix and compound automated TPNs, irrigations, and chemotherapy drugs in specified volumes, dosages and concentrations.

  • Training to prepare research study medications as needed. Labels and records manufactured medications as required.

To qualify, you must have:

  • A Massachusetts Pharmacy Intern license.

  • Completed two years of education at an approved College/School of Pharmacy in which the candidate is currently enrolled.

  • Analytical skills to gather and interpret data in situations in which the information or problems are relatively routine.

  • Ability to understand and respond to written or verbal instructions. Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions or requests for information.
