Job Duties: Leadership Uphold standards for school culture and performance in alignment with culturally proficient and antiracist practices. Establish a professional rapport that earns respect from staff and students. Support in the implementation of the school and district vision. Serve as a role model for students and staff, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession. Maintain visibility with students, staff, parents, and the community, attending school and community functions regularly to demonstrate a genuine interest in the students and staff. Coordinate team efforts to celebrate and recognize student success. Communicate with parents through a variety of methods; hold conferences as needed to discuss individual student’s progress and school programs. Plans, leads, and participates in professional development opportunities for improved job performance in collaboration with the leadership team. Develop and facilitate school-wide staff development activities in collaboration with the leadership team. Provide strategies and implement programs/practices for improving student achievement, classroom organization, and management in collaboration with the leadership team. Provide leadership around developing and implementing after school programs (professional development, scheduling). Instructional Support Provide instructional support for beginning and veteran teachers in collaboration with the leadership team and instructional coach(es). Assist teachers with schedules, assessments, planning and implementing differentiated lessons that maximize resources and reflect researched-based practices in collaboration with the leadership team. Participate in educator development & feedback cycles in collaboration with the leadership team. Work with a Content Team Facilitator to ensure that the curriculum appropriately challenges and meets the needs of Frederick students. Support all educators in the effective implementation of research-based instructional practices that include and accomodate the needs of English Learners. Ensure maintenance of effective routines for monitoring student growth and progress in collaboration with the leadership team. Support the integration of technology within classrooms and the inclusion of all students in appropriate placements. Support annual state assessments (WIDA Access for English Learners). Student Support Communicate daily with students, parents, and teachers regarding attendance and incidents of harm. Coordinate and conducts appropriate conferences related to attendance, academics, and the restoration of harm. Assist staff with student success plans in order to support interventions. Coordinate student/family/team meetings and support family involvement. Coordinate after school programming in conjunction with community partners. Support wrap-around services for homeless students. Required Qualifications: Massachusetts teaching license at the middle school level. Bachelor’s Degree. Hold a Supervisor/Director OR Principal/Assistant Principal license. 1-3 years of school leadership experience. Preferred Qualifications: M.ED Vietnamese OR Spanish OR Cape Verdean Speaker Experience with academic and compliance based support for diverse learners\ TERMS: Managerial Tier C. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement. NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
