Suffolk University is seeking an Associate Director of Graduate Admission to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Graduate Admission, this position works as part of an admissions unit responsible for the recruitment and admission of graduate students in the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) and Sawyer Business School (SBS). The candidate will help guide prospective students through the steps to enrollment, evaluate admission applications, and be involved in a range of virtual and on/off campus recruitment activities including college fairs, corporate visits, partner events and applicant interviews. The Associate Director will serve as a member of the senior admission team, work with the Director on the management of graduate admission budget and provide mentorship and management of the recruiting team. A limited hybrid (position based in Boston) schedule is available based on the needs of the office/enrollment cycle.If you’re passionate about helping students and value the importance of our historical mission of access, opportunity, and inclusion, then we welcome your application for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Represent the University both virtually and in-person at University-hosted and partner prospective student recruiting events. Travel/recruit approximately 6-8 weeks throughout the year. Conduct virtual and on/off-campus interviews with students as requested. Demonstrate understanding of Suffolk University’s mission, commitment to diversity and inclusion, and how our urban location presents a unique opportunity for prospective students. Candidate must be able to think strategically about their recruitment market, and take a creative and data-driven approach to increase enrollment.

  • Manages the admission process for a caseload of students by answering prospects’ and applicants’ questions, following up with applicants to ensure all required application materials are received, interviewing applicants, reviewing files, and contributing to admission decisions. Will be responsible for ensuring a high level of service, responsible for managing and reporting on student process from inquiry to enrollment and progress towards institutional goals while ensuring data integrity.

  • The candidate will participate in the onboarding, training, and mentorship of recruiting team members, and have direct oversight and management of at least 3 full time staff members and 1-2 graduate fellows. Assists team with the development and cultivation of a strategic territory and prospect management plan. Will serve as a senior graduate admissions officer in the absence of the Director. This requires the ability to make autonomous decisions that may be tied to tactical and strategic planning on behalf of the admissions office.

  • Serves as OGA liaison and maximizes relationships with OGA partners that support recruiting a diverse population of graduate students. This includes Program Directors, Career Services and the Office of Alumni Relations

  • Assisting the Director with Office budget management, including reviewing monthly reports, checking for correct budget lines and conducting transfer requests as needed, also checking for questionable charges and making recommendations for budget allocation. performance and conversion rates, and keeping on top of profile edits.

  • Developing off-campus domestic recruitment strategy, including college fairs, vendor-run and larger scale events, and program specific offerings. Prepare full, detailed list of all opportunities with recommendations and analyze data to inform domestic and international travel strategy.

  • Serve on university committees as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Graduate Admission and Senior Vice President of Enrollment

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • 6+ years of relevant experience in admission and recruitment, preferably at the graduate level.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment.

  • Strong time management and ability to meet strict, frequent deadlines.

  • Ability to engage and network with prospective applicants including the ability to represent the University professionally, express the value of attending Suffolk and to ‘sell’ a vision.

  • Strong creativity and innovation; willingness to try new approaches to achieve desired objectives.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to write a variety of concise, engaging and professional material directed to internal and external audiences.

  • Must be 18 years old, have at least two years of driving experience and have a valid driver’s license from the U.S. or U.S. Territories; must submit to an annual driver record check and maintain an acceptable driving record per university and/or insurance carrier requirements; must complete the University driver safety training within 60 days of hire and additional driver training as needed.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally, including having a valid passport.

  • Ability working nights and weekends as required for recruiting events.

  • Strong computer proficiency required; experience with an admission CRM system preferred.

  • Able to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively.
