WSP USA Associate Consultant, Electrical Engineering in Boston, Massachusetts

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Electrical Engineer for our Newark, NJ office. The following locations will also be considered: New York City, Rochester, NY, or Boston, MA. Be involved in projects with our Energy Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges

Your Impact

  • Work with new and existing power plants to incorporate more renewable energy, black start generators, or battery energy storage.

  • Support medium voltage power distribution systems for fleet electrification and large energy users like airports, hospitals, quarries, and college campuses.

  • Electrical Engineer for a power distribution and distributed energy projects.

  • Perform sizing calculations for all electrical equipment including GT/ Unit / station transformers, DG Sets and MV/LV Switchgears, MV/LV Cables, Lightning protection, and grounding.

  • Prepare general arrangement and equipment layout drawings for MV/LV systems.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • 5+ years of relevant post education experience in an electrical engineering capacity.

  • Exposure to operations and project controls experience for purposes of reporting.

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues.

  • Knowledge on power system study tools like SKM /ETAP to run Load flow, short circuit, ARC flash on MV/LV systems.

  • Knowledge of codes/regulations including NEC and IEEE standards relevant to Medium and Low Voltage systems.

  • Basic knowledge on MV/LV protection schemes and relays.

  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (i.e., CADD, Aspen, CAPE, ETAP), AutoCADD electrical.

  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

  • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.

  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE License strongly preferred
