FAREWAY STORES INC Campus Refrigeration Technician (Full-Time) in BOONE, Iowa

JOB FUNCTION:

As a Campus Refrigeration Technician, you will maintain and repair refrigeration throughout the Fareway Meat and Grocery Boone Campus. Your attention to detail and background in refrigeration technology will help us maintain efficient operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Start up, test and observe systems to ensure proper function for its operating life
  • Service and maintain existing systems
  • Follow refrigeration best practices, keeping up on industry standards
  • Troubleshoot refrigeration systems with different needs
  • Replace faulty refrigeration parts
  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System
  • Other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to read and understand technical instructions
  • Ability to use various tools effectively and safely
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently
  • Electrical and mechanical skills are necessary
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities
  • Basic math skills are required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience or schooling on refrigeration systems
  • Experience in performing advanced HVAC diagnosis, maintenance, and repair
  • Basic plumbing knowledge
  • Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to climb stairs, bend, kneel, twist, reach, and pull frequently
  • Must be able to lift items more than 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently, and 10 - 20 lbs. continuously

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures depending on building:

    • Some jobs occur in room temperature rooms, 60F - 85F
    • Some jobs occur in refrigerated rooms, 28F - 45F
    • Some jobs occur in freezer rooms, -20F - 0F
  • Campus warehouses have a noisy and busy environment; employees must always remain alert
