Universal Health Services PARAMEDIC - TMC BONHAM (PRN) in BONHAM, Texas

Responsibilities

TMC Bonham Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital that includes both primary care and specialty physicians. The Critical Access Hospital, offering both inpatient and outpatient services along with 24-hour emergency services. The Critical Access Hospital (CAH) Program was established to assure access to healthcare services for rural residents. The program provides rural acute care hospitals with a range of opportunities for service enhancement and quality of care improvement. Quality healthcare and patient safety is our goal. TMC Bonham is managed by Texoma Medical Center, subsidiary of UHS.

The Paramedic will be able to provide quality care to patients of all ages under the direction of the Medical Director in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Texoma Medical Center. The ED Paramedic reports to the charge nurse for shift assignments and direction of shift duties as assigned. The Paramedic will be responsible for the direct and indirect care of patients under the supervision of the Medical Director. Under the direction of a health care practitioner, the Paramedic provides patient care within a defined scope of practice that includes patient care/observation, specified treatments and procedures; provision of environmental and personal safety, and effective communication. The Paramedic will also be responsible to collect pertinent data within their certification scope of responsibilities, and charts appropriately. Works in collaboration with RNs and Medical Providers to provide patient care to adult medical and trauma patients utilizing advanced skills and judgment. Paramedics will be responsible for ECG interpretation, IV therapy, and initiation of approved protocol orders and guidelines of patients in the ED setting. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Completion of an accredited paramedic program. Per licensure requirements.

Required- 1 year experience as a Paramedic in a pre-hospital environment. Preferred- 1 year experience in a hospital setting as a paramedic

Licensed Paramedic (LP) or Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) in the state of Texas required. AHA or ARC BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider card showing completion of cognitive and skills evaluation in accordance with the curriculum of AHA BLS (CPR & AED) program. ACLS and PALS within 90 days of hire. Handle With Care within 6 months of hire. Must demonstrate arrhythmia competency by 90% score on testing within 90 days.

Interfaces with various healthcare workers as well as with physicians, patients and family members.
