Transportation Coordinator

Summary
In this role, under moderate oversight and adhering to established protocols, the individual is responsible for securing efficient transportation solutions from various sources, including the company fleet and third-party carriers, to fulfill customer demands while adhering to profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and manage daily transportation operations, such as scheduling, routing, and dispatching trucks, to ensure the prompt delivery of both raw and processed potato products across North America.
Maintain effective communication with the Customer Service, Deployment, and Warehousing teams to keep them informed about truck statuses and operational support needs.
Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with transportation service providers, serving as the intermediary between J.R. Simplot and the trucking firms.
Control transportation expenses by verifying the accuracy of additional fees and streamlining truck routes to lower costs.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems for assigning loads to carriers and monitoring the progress of shipments to ensure deliveries are made on schedule.
Tackle and rectify any transportation complications that arise, including delays, accidents, or equipment breakdowns.
Typical Education
Associate's Degree (A.A. or equivalent)
Relevant Experience
5+ years related experience and/or training

Knowledge: This position represents a senior level within the Transportation Coordinator job family, demanding a comprehensive understanding of transportation logistics and a demonstrated proficiency in using personal computers, particularly for generating reports from transportation management systems.
Skills: This role requires the application of advanced transportation skills, with a preference for strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Transportation Management Systems. Tasks are frequently complex and varied, requiring innovative problem-solving and autonomy. The position demands excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
