Summary

Primary responsibility to be the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the managements and most cost-effective disposition for non-productive (non-salable) Inventory that is not directly related to factory quality production issues that remain the responsibly of the producing factory. This would include the analysis and disposition of all non-factory related hold inventory as well as Damaged, Aging and Expired product throughout the distribution network of over 20 primary warehouses plus additional overflow facilities. Responsible for the tracking, analyzing and communication for overall distribution shrink expenses as well as a key stake holder in developing an accurate quarterly shrink forecast and managing against an annual shrink budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Works cross functionally with QA, Deployment, Customer Service, Sales and 3rdparty warehouses to manage and facilitate timely and least cost disposition of all non-factory related hold and expired inventory for over 2,200 SKU’s across all storage locations of finished goods. This includes the auditing of hold reports and aging product reports from each finished goods warehouse on a regular basis.

  • Develop SOP’s and processes to manage and reduce overall distribution shrink expense across the many shrink expense components to include Held Inventory, Aged and Aging Inventory, Damaged Product, Temperature abused product, Shipping Discrepancies, Cycle Count Adjustments, Customer Deductions for OS&D as well as any other contributing root causes for shrink expense.

  • Take a leadership role in analyzing shrink expense reports to identify and implement corrective actions across all contributing components to shrink expense and be a key stake holder in the development of annual shrink budget and accurate Quarterly shrink expense reserve forecast.

  • Analyze monthly expired product reports to drive timely and cost-effective disposition of expired product as well as looking for root causes of expired product to drive corrective actions to reduce future shrink expense in this area

  • Manage relationships with all domestic contracted 3PL warehouses

  • Assists in establishing and manage relationships with our contracted 3PL warehouse partners. This requires establishing and monitoring warehouse capacity, personnel contact lists, understanding operational issues or constraints that have potential impact to our finished products, and case damage management.

Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

  • 5+ years related experience and/or training

  • Reviews and enhances all Company Warehouse SOP’s

  • Maintains Warehouse SOP’s both to manage internal handling of finished inventory as well to ensure all contracted third-party warehouses have access to the current Company SOP’s (TeamShare) to manage and safe-guard Company finished inventory . This requires keeping apprised of Global Food Safety Standards and updating SOPs to reflect any changes or required modifications. Warehouse visits to audit and ensure compliance to Company polices and SOP’s

  • Manage operational and process support involving finished product movement thru 3PL Warehouses

  • Point person to resolve all current 3PL Warehouse immediate needs: appointment schedules, OSD (overage, shortages, damages), assist with timely unloading of railcars, help with railcar bunching (instruct warehouses in unload priority-truck or rail), and communicate with shipping warehouses as required. Provides support for product holds and retrievals and oversee the truck loading and unloading to manage detention avoidance.

  • Supports food safety requirement adherence in the warehousing of finished products

  • Assist warehousing group (internal) in ensuring food safety audits, CAP’s (Corrective Action Plans), and audit certificates are current and posted on Team Share and Warehousing folder.

  • Works cross-functionally with transportation, production planning, purchasing, and sales/marketing, to create product supply plans.

  • Provides warehousing approaches and the necessary supporting logistics infrastructure to provide quick and cost competitive inbound and outbound delivery for Company finished products. Helps ensure logistics asset investment (rolling stock, warehouses) are correctly located, correct capacity and managed to support achievement of Food Group Supply Chain objectives.
