A Fab 4 Line Operations Engineer (ME) is part of the Operations Development Integration team (ODI) in Operations Development Engineering (ODE) and is responsible for understanding and driving improvements to operational performance. Additional duties include but are not limited to:

Safety & Quality

  • Finishes the required safety training and conducts all work in accordance with Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies

  • Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure regulatory compliance

  • Reports all safety-related concerns or problems immediately to the appropriate individual (Emergency Response Team, Supervision, etc.)

  • Performs audits and submits good catches on safety issues

Communication/Collaboration

  • Collaborates with key partners to develop applications to continuously improve metrics

  • Presents findings and recommends solutions to fab performance gaps to diverse audiences

  • Works closely with the Technology Development and Process Engineering teams to plan for future product introduction

  • Provides updates on key projects and lots

  • Partners with the area Engineering and Operations teams to keep updated on area issues, priorities and projects

  • Drives the collection of new data and the refinement of existing data sources

Project Management/Planning

  • Designs and coordinates projects with several different departments

  • Supports inventory control and cycle-time improvement processes

  • Support and lead efforts for New Part Startup, and product planning achievements

  • Establishes operational business processes and procedures that are deployed across Fab 4 and in some cases globally, partnering with the Part and Area Operations teams.

  • Leads projects, including the identification of task requirements and landmarks

  • Prioritizes work tasks effectively to meet commitments and seek opportunities for improvement

  • Develops standard methodologies, reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations

Technical/Data

  • Applies industrial engineering concepts to line management, capacity analysis, scheduling and production planning

  • Uses statistical analysis to evaluate manufacturing line performance for continuous improvement

  • Seeks out novel methodologies and tools to better predict and track manufacturing key line performance indicators

  • Forecasts and setting cycle time targets, WIP Limits, wafer delivery plans and other operational measures while tracking performance to plan

  • Benchmarks with other Micron sites and the industry in general to bring to bear best known methods (BKMs)

  • Continuously improves production metrics and line performance reporting

  • Develops metrics and reports to support the Part Operations Engineers and ODE in general

  • Advanced understanding of Manufacturing Science (scheduling, inventory management, capacity planning)

  • Demonstrated understanding and proven ability to improve production metrics and line performance

Education and Experience

  • Required: BS in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Production Operations Management (POM), equivalent degree, or meaningful experience.

  • Preferred: Two or more years of experience. Knowledge of the semiconductor manufacturing process in regard to capacity planning, automation, scheduling, cycle time, and manufacturing efficiency.
