AHRC Suffolk Employment Training Specialist in Bohemia, New York

Role Summary: The Employment Training Specialist with the support of the Assistant Director of Vocational Services is responsible for providing supported employment and job development services for people supported to assist them in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment or volunteer experiences. Additionally, they will help develop relationships with employers and the community to grow opportunities for employment.

Role Responsibilities:

 Creates and maintains effective working relationships with people supported, employers, families, advocates and residential providers.

 Maintains accurate records, completes, and submits reports timely.

 Locates and secures community-based employment opportunities which match the skills, abilities and interests of the people supported.

 Negotiates job responsibilities to ensure appropriate match.

 Provides skills training aimed at improving work performance.

 Assists with social, travel and budget training to assist people supported in securing and maintaining community-based employment.

 Facilitates social interaction at the job site.

 Completes task analysis of job duties as required.

 Develops relationships with employers to grow supportive work programs and create a positive environment for all.

SALARY 21.10 22.66 HOUR

Requirements

 High School Diploma or GED

 1 years’ experience in OPWDD setting assisting in a vocationally based training

 Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.

 Ability to work flexible evening or weekend hours as needed.

 Valid NYS Driver’s License.
