GE Vernova Lead Wind Farm Field Service Technician - Bodangora NSW in Bodangora, Australia

Job Description Summary

This role will see you interface regularly with the Service Management, the Client, internal technical team, contractors, and the local community. You will take a lead role in the resident site team and undertake tasks including annual maintenance, retrofit works, major component exchange and fault finding at our Bodangora Wind Farm Project in Dubbo NSW. Wind Turbine specific training will be provided to the successful applicants.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Hold the Site Electrical Contractors Licence Nominee position and act as the and carry out the position functions Site Delegate to the High Voltage Operating Authority to carry out the position functions

  • Ensure compliance and documentation in regard to the appropriate Acts, Regulations, Standards and Codes of Practice are implemented, managed and maintained.

  • Interpret the requirements of GE manuals, specifications, bulletins and complete assigned tasks in accordance with GE work instructions

  • Lead, coach and train site Technicians and 3rd party contractors

  • Perform and ensure the proper maintenance and fault finding of assets

  • Report errors, violations, incidents, or problems immediately using GE reporting systems

  • Submit enquiries to Engineering to ensure technical issues are resolved

  • Form part of an on-call roster to work weekends and nights if required or as directed by management

  • Perform HV switching operations according to site procedures as required including the holding of permits creating switching instruction and issuing permits

  • Be familiar with and follow all EHS policies, and procedures applicable to their job and cooperate with GE investigations and EHS audits.

  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with GE documents and to Services EHS & QA/QC policies and procedures including but not limited to Electrical Safety Procedures, Lock out / Tag out Procedures and SWMS

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience as an unrestricted A-grade electrician

  • Understanding of basic AC/DC electrical circuits

  • Clear experience and examples driving a safety culture

  • Demonstrated previous experience in High Voltage switching and operations.

  • Proficient in fault finding equipment.

  • Trained to an intermediate level in computer skills.

  • Must have positive attitude and the ability to complete physically demanding tasks at heights.

  • Be on the weekend on-call roster and open to travel to other locations where required

  • A current unrestricted driver's license.

  • Previous experience working as an electrical supervisor

  • HRWL including Dogging, Rigging (Advanced), Forklift, EWP.

  • Leadership or Supervisor Training
