LOCATION

SCHEDULE

20-25 hours per week including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:

Performs responsible semiskilled work in operations and maintenance of a Tennis Center; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.

Essential Functions

  • Opens and closes facility; ensures cleanliness of building.

  • Maintains court areas, including rolling/brushing and lining clay courts, and use water removal equipment.

  • Assists Tennis Center Patrons.

  • Operates cash register; takes court reservations and books lessons for pros.

  • Issues permits and collects fees and registrations.

  • Collects receipts, fees, registrations; issues permits.

  • Act as receptionist, answers telephone inquiries about routine programs, procedures and policies, relays and dispatches messages as required.

  • Use a computer and variety of standard and automated office equipment.

  • Provides assistance at special events as required.

RELATED TASKS:

  • Assists with routine custodial care of facility; vacuums, mops.

  • Gathers and disposes of trash and debris.

  • Assures cleanliness of grounds adjacent to building and court areas.

  • Assists with net and windscreen repairs and replacement.

  • Performs related tasks as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

General knowledge of Tennis and Tennis Center operations.

Knowledge of general office techniques.

Knowledge of cleaning methods and ability to operate roller/brush cart.

Ability to operate cash register and make simple arithmetical calculations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, patrons, and the general public.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to type 20WPM.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; and

  • Six (6) months of experience performing office support and clerical functions, including experience with operating point of sale and cash handling.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to demonstrate Rec-Trac proficiency within three (3) months of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift, carry, and push articles weighing up to 30 lbs. Must be able to wear gloves. Exposure to extreme temperatures and weather conditions, noise, vibrations, dust, vapors, fumes, mist, and insects. Exposure to heights of up to four (4) feet, and moving mechanical parts.

CITY OF BOCA RATON - BENEFITS SUMMARY

Part-Time Employees

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year

PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.

MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
