Description

Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant with a background in nonprofit or religious organizations, who is proficient in QuickBooks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial management, and reporting standards specific to the nonprofit sector. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional analytical abilities, and a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial practices.

Responsibilities:

  • General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoice processing, vendor management, and timely collections.

  • Bank Reconciliation: Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial transactions and monitor cash flow.

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for management and board review.

  • Posting Donations: Record and reconcile incoming donations, ensuring accurate posting to the appropriate accounts and donor records.

  • Grant Management: Track and report on grant funding, ensuring compliance with grant requirements and timely submission of financial reports.

  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting regulations, nonprofit reporting requirements, and tax laws.

  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with finance team members and other departments to support organizational goals and initiatives.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience, within a nonprofit or religious organization.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software is required; experience with nonprofit accounting software (e.g., Blackbaud, Sage Intacct) is a plus.

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting principles, fund accounting, and grant management.

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and identify trends.

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and nonprofit financial reporting standards.

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely to stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.

  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing challenges and implementing solutions.
