Key Responsibilities

  • The Category Manager has "cradle to grave" product responsibility working in a team environment.

  • Primary product group responsibility is industrial Motors and Power Transmission products such as speed reducers, belts and pulleys, couplings, actuators, etc.

  • The Category Manager acts as a leader, with other Product Managers in adjacent product categories.

  • Requirements:

  • Develop current and New Product lines, including filling offering Gaps and selecting appropriate supplier partners.

  • Responsibilities include determining new product requirements, branding, vendor selection, negotiating supply agreements, developing marketing material for catalog and web, establishing product pricing, determining initial sales forecast, assisting with a product promotion plan, and product training for internal teams.

  • Provide analysis of market/customer needs, the competition, and market segment trends to identify opportunities for new and existing products.

  • Presentation of new product opportunities including thorough understanding of available market, pricing, our expected market share, and our overall cost of doing business.

  • Some travel is required.

Competencies and skills

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or approved equivalent degree.

  • Requires experience in Product Marketing or Product Development and PandL responsibilities.

  • Experience with agency approvals (UL, CSA, CE, etc.) and CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is desirable.

  • Must possess self confidence, organizational skills, time management skills and excellent communication skills.

  • Must also be able to work on and manage projects independently, meet deadlines and have excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Keeps updated on revisions/improvements to vendors existing products and learns vendor new products

  • Maintains an awareness of the changes in technology used by customer it relates to assigned products.

  • Develops an annual sales plan for addressing strategies for marketing the assigned products in partnership with account managers and vendors.

  • Previous work should demonstrate strong and professional interpersonal communication skills.

  • The ability to handle a multi tasking environment; customer service a must; detail oriented and deadline oriented in a fast paced environment; the ability to develop positive, collaborative partnerships with customers, co workers and management.
