Overview

The Developmental Leadership Program is a production operations role designed to cultivate the expertise and leadership skills necessary for a successful career in operations leadership. Through a series of rotations across various departments and divisions, participants will gain valuable insights into our operations and culture while developing their leadership skills. Participants will be exposed to all facets of the business, and partner with leadership to plan and direct operations of the business. You will be paired with a mentor, receive coaching from various leaders and learn from the team. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and always housekeeping standards at all time.

The program will last anywhere from 12 to 22 months, with an established home division which includes a 3-month rotation at another division. Relocation at the end of the program will likely be required.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in hands-on rotational assignments across different departments within our manufacturing operations, including production, material handling, and commercial.

  • Participate in self-paced and classroom learning aimed at enhancing your knowledge of Nucor, building your leadership capabilities, communication skills and strategic thinking.

  • Build strong relationships within your host divisions including production managers, supervisors, frontline teammates and more.

  • Work with teams to identify opportunities for process optimization and implement solutions to drive continuous improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies, while prioritizing safety in all aspects of operations.

Successful Candidates Should Demonstrate

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive results.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Passion for manufacturing operations and desire for leadership.

  • Willingness to relocate to any location throughout the US.

  • Ability and desire to work in a hands-on, industrial environment.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree + 2 years of relevant experience OR associates + 4 years of relevant experience OR 6 years of experience in engineering, business, operations management, or related field.

  • Minimum 2 years experience leading a team.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous manufacturing experience

  • Previous military experience
