Job Description: SUMMARY The Controls Technician Co-op is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in the industrial controls field. This co-op position will allow students to work directly with plant control systems, gaining experience in troubleshooting, maintenance, and project implementation. The candidate will play an active role in electrical safety and training, supporting the plant's instrumentation and electrical teams. This role is ideal for a self-motivated individual with strong communication skills and a passion for technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES * Assist with troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant electrical and controls equipment. * Support the installation and demolition of electrical systems throughout the plant * Assist with maintaining and updating plant systems, including logic and PLC programs. * Manage and document system software changes, ensuring all affected employees are informed of updates. * Adheres to safety standards and regulations, keeping equipment in an electrically safe condition. * Participate in the installation of new improvement projects across the plant. * Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

Technical knowledge/skills * Assist with basic analysis, documentation, and design support for electrical and control system projects. * Help prepare materials and learn about the process of capital request preparation and project installations. * Shadow senior technicians during the start-up, checkout, debugging, and installation of electrical systems. * Support process evaluation efforts and provide assistance with minor equipment modifications under supervision. * Gain exposure to the fundamentals of PLC programs, including assisting with basic maintenance tasks and switch installations.

Education/Experience Currently enrolled in a high school technical program, with coursework or hands-on experience in industrial technology, electrical systems, or automation.
