Element Materials Technology IT Engineer, Data Network Operations Engineer in Blue Ash, Ohio

Overview

Element has an opportunity for an IT Engineer - Data Network Ops Engineer to become part of our growing IT Operations Team.

This role will primarily focus on 3rd line Network Operational support, who will be accountable to provide operational day-to-day support for all Element’s Global Network Services, including wide area, local area and wireless Networks. To allow for scale and coverage the team operates in a “follow the sun” support, so providing support to team members outside your region is a key part of this role. Additionally, the role will be working closely with the front-line TOC (Technology Operations Centre) to support the initial troubleshooting, monitoring and triaging of network related incidents and request.

You will be working collaboratively with the rest of the DTG infrastructure run, design and build teams, as well as trusted partners and vendors to deliver services to the Element business units including the support for service integration of new acquisitions.

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years of experience with implementation, operations, maintenance of IT Network infrastructure within multi-platform and multi-system environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintenance of Element core servers, networking, VOIP, eMail and messaging systems

  • Support and maintenance of VMware, Cloud and storage systems

  • Technical project support for acquisitions and integrations

  • Monitoring core systems for effectiveness / appropriateness and pro-active maintenance.

  • Efficient and effective management of 3rd line incidents through to a successful, timely resolution

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal customers and external suppliers / partners

  • Contribute to global strategy and policies associated with infrastructure, incident management and Technology Operations Center.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or equivalent knowledge

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with implementation, operations, maintenance of IT Network infrastructure within multi-platform and multi-system environments.

  • Broad technical knowledge and experience of supporting and troubleshooting Cisco platforms to 3rd/4th level.

  • Broad technical knowledge and experience supporting and troubleshooting Cisco Catalyst Switches, Cisco ISR routers and NXOS switching platforms

  • Experience of managing and troubleshooting networking protocols (IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, FHRP, WLAN solutions, QoS, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VLANs, STP technologies and Ethernet switching solutions) across multiple platforms deployed in the Element networking estate.

  • Experience of managing and troubleshooting Firewalls e.g. Sonicwall, Fortinet, Cisco FirePower

  • Experience of Network monitoring and management tools, such as SolarWinds or Zabbix.

  • Display technical credibility and independent judgment and decision-making experience on Networking matters.

  • Ability to overcome challenges in remote working such as overseas locations, cultural differences, split time-zones to ensure positive interactions.

  • Excellent communication and customer facing skills.

  • Good problem-solving and analytical skills, able to determine the impact of Network issues quickly, combined with sound decision-making skills under pressure.

  • Demonstrate planning, documentation, and organisational skills.

  • Experience of delivery using IT infrastructure management practices & standards, ITIL / ITSM principles and practices, & change management in large environments.

  • Demonstrate understanding of IT security issues in the networking space.
