A DAY IN THE LIFE This role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: * Provide financial support to Program Managers, including review and analysis of project revenues and costs relative to project budgets. Assist in preparation of estimate at completion (EAC) projections, and maintain project forecasts/budgets in the financial management system. * Perform customer contract set-ups and contract amendments in thein the Workday financial management system. Maintain the associated project set-ups for the delivery team to record labor, subcontractor costs, and expenses. * Prepare timely project invoices, collaborate with Project Managers on billable and non-billable labor and expenses. * Manage month-end financial close processes for projects, and work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure accurate revenue recognition, and expenses are submitted timely and accurately. * Assist with inventory cost accounting, supply chain, and fixed asset tracking. * Oversee project controls effective ess and work closely with other departments, such as Accounting, Accounts Payable, Credit & Collections, FP&A and Legal to ensure both financial and legal compliance. * Help drive standardization and continuous improvement of back-office processes and Operational support as business requirements evolve. * Ability to work with new initiatives and communicate clear and concise data to Operational Project Managers and leaders. * Serve as a key point of contact, where necessary, for internal and external auditors. * Occasional travel to other Montrose and ECB offices to collaborate with team members and business leaders. YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilities. * Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or other work-related degree. * 8+ years of hands-on project accounting and project billing experience in a finance/accounting team environment, in large to mid-sized Architectural & Engineering (A&E),Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), or similar industry. * Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAPrevenue recognition standards for time & materials, fixed-price percentage-of-completion, milestone and cost-plus concepts. * Experience with fixed assets tracking and inventory management. * Project controls experience, a general understanding of project planning and experience or knowledge of cost engineering or budget management. * Experience with Workday Financials and Adaptive software preferred * Sharp numerical and analytical abilities. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills * Highly attentive to detail * Highly effective verbal and written communication skills * Self-starter and effective time management/prioritization skills * Ability to work effectively both in a team and independently The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
