Who we are!Consolidated Precision Products (CPP)-Bloomington, MN is currently looking to hire an experienced Layout Inspector to join our team. This role reports to the Director of Quality Assurance at our plant in Bloomington, MN and is considered a critical member of the CPP-Minneapolis team, working closely with foundry departments and teams. This position dimensionally inspects all standard and complex castings, fixtures and core assemblies following the blueprint specification by laying out reference lines, points, measuring dimensions, etc. and offers a competitive compensation & benefits package which includes a bonus program that is paid quarterly, medical/dental/vision/life insurance, 401K with match and robust paid vacation & holidays. This position is onsite with a flexible schedule.What will you do?Performs casting layouts by using CMM, Portable CMM, Laser Scanner and White Light equipment utilizing Digital Analysis Software and manual measurement tools.Perform casting layouts by using scriber to scribe lines on castings and verifies feature positions and shapes using precision measuring equipment to determine if existing dimensions meet blueprint specifications.Complete dimensional discrepancy reports, layout reports, engineering lists, customer forms, etc. and reviews with Engineers, Department Supervisors or Pattern Making personnel.Analyze castings of all complexities to determine the process for checking blueprint dimensions. This includes evaluating accuracy of tooling points, the cutting planes and angles for saw operations and providing specific directions or assistance to Inspectors assigned to same P/N inspection.Organize all equipment, materials, fixtures, measuring devices, etc. necessary to complete assigned job and check all documentation (blueprints, travelers, customer records, engineering change requests, special instructions, etc.).Performs Target, Machining, Inspection or Core Assembly Fixture dimensional inspections using height gages, precision hand gages, dial indicators or computerized coordinate measuring machines to verify dimensional accuracy to casting drawing.Write and update work instructions to support production inspection requirements.Provide thorough feedback to manufacturing and engineering on special interest findings through written and verbal instruction.Host or co-host customer representatives from Quality Engineering and /or Purchasing in detailed review of dimensional inspection reports.Perform routine maintenance and minor repair of equipment and contact Supervisor for major problems and repairs.What experience is needed?Vocational or Technical school in areas such as drafting, pattern making, die making, etc. with additional emphasis on inspection preferred1 years in a manufacturing environmentKnowledge and experience working with CMM, Portable CMM, CT Scanning, Laser Scanning Polyworks or Geomagic software preferredExperience reading castings blueprintsWhat we offer!$26-28/ hour depending on education and experienceWeekly Pay for Hourly EmployeesComprehensive Benefit PlansQuarterly Bonus Opportunity401k with generous Company MatchEmphasis on Employee EngagementPaid Holidays and Vacation TimeTuition ReimbursementOpportunities for AdvancementSponsorship is not available for this role.
