Job Description A Project Engineer in our Environmental Investigation and Remediation group drives a variety of project related services including scoping and managing on-site investigation work, preparing feasibility studies and cost estimates, preparing remedial action plans and designing remediation/mitigation systems at contaminated soil, groundwater, sediment, and soil vapor project sites. Responsibilities

  • Scope and manage Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) consistent with AIA and ASTM Standards.
  • Scope and manage Phase II ESAs and Remedial Investigations at sites with impacted soil, sediment, groundwater, and soil vapor.
  • Prepare feasibility studies and detailed cost estimates for environmental investigation, remediation, and soil vapor mitigation projects.
  • Prepare engineering plans and specifications to facilitate contractor bidding and selection for environmental remediation projects.
  • Design remediation systems and soil vapor mitigation systems and prepare operation and maintenance plans.
  • Coordinate and direct field personnel and subcontractors.
  • Prepare new project proposals that include scopes of work, work breakdown structures, and cost estimates.
  • Travel to local, regional, and national project sites.
  • Assist senior staff with various environmental regulatory matters for clients.
  • Manage projects involving direct client communications.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, chemical, environmental, or geological engineering, or related engineering degree.
  • PE registration or ability to be registered within 6-months.
  • Ability to read and independently analyze and interpret technical reports, technical guidance documents, and governmental regulations pertaining to environmental contamination.
  • Strong technical writings skills including written reports, business correspondence, and procedure manual.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and respond to questions from managers, clients, and the general public.
  • Demonstrate strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to successfully complete projects in remote locations.

Required Experience:

  • 7 to 12+ years of experience in an environmental consulting or environmental engineering work environment.
  • Experience managing projects that include field data collection, investigation, and construction/remediation.
  • OSHA 40-hour Hazwoper and current annual refresher.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving history.
