The Cigna Group Senior Developer and Automation Engineer- Evernorth Health Services -Hybrid in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Organization is looking for a proactive, open minded, well organized, strong customer service, and talented Senior Storage Developer & Automation Engineer. Engineer will act as the senior developer to provide expert content & professional leadership on all Storage Development & Automation Engineering assignments. Provides comprehensive consultation to business units, IT management and staff at the highest technical level on all phases of application programming and processes for a diverse storage environment. Recognized internally as “the go-to person” for the Storage Development and Automation assignments and team mentor.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Development and automation work around Enterprise Storage & Backup systems.

  • Work closely with Storage & Backup engineers to develop processes to improve day-to-day operational efficiencies with automation.

  • Develop scripts, tools, or methodologies to enhance the Storage & Backup environment using automation.

  • Develop SPLUNK dashboards / reports for Storage & Backup environments.

  • Code new or modified scripts, and test effectiveness. Evaluate error messages, modify codes, and troubleshoot problems.

  • Creating architecture documentation and diagrams for automation code

  • Design and architect solutions independently as part of a smaller team.

  • Provide knowledge transfer to team members.

  • Present new capabilities and project updates to leadership team

  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability.

  • Being able to act as collaborator with members of the Storage & Backup Team and other Cigna teams.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science and or at least ten years’ work experience in development / automation

Requirement Skills:

  • Exceptional communication skills and experience interacting with all levels of organization.

  • Strong knowledge of C# and Python and with 10+ years of experiences with these application languages.

  • Knowledge of importing data to SPLUNK and creating custom dashboards & reports

  • Understanding of RESTful web services as well as other HTTP APIs and SDKs

  • Knowledge of automation with Ansible to improve IT efficiencies.

  • Coding against ServiceNow application

  • Excellent understanding of metrics, monitoring, & alerting as they related to code.

  • Project management tool like JIRA

  • Project documentation and diagrams

  • Experience working with source control tools, such as Git and TFS

Additional Skills:

  • General knowledge of Storage Hardware & Software Technologies related to block, file, and object storage arrays.

  • Storage Performance KPIs and Metrics

  • ITSM System Change Control process

  • JavaScript, VBScript, and PowerShell

  • Cloud provider development; AWS, Azure, or Google
