Viability Program Assistive Technology Specialist 3 in Bloomfield, Connecticut

“Looking for an opportunity to build an Assistive Tech and Virtual Reality program?”

“This position will join a collaborative multidisciplinary team to provide services that are aligned with the mission of Viability implementing best practices in Assistive Tech and VR.”

$500 sign on bonus ($250 at the completion of first week of training and $250 after successful completion of first 90 days)

Position: Program Assistive Technology Specialist 3

Location: Bloomfield, CT

Hours: 40 Hours per week; Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm

Hourly Rate: $28 Per hour

Summary:

  • As the Assistive Technology Specialist, you will conduct AT services to identify technology supports that appropriately align with an individual’s unique abilities, preferences, environmental contexts, and barriers. Responsibilities include collaborating with Viability programs; In Home Supports, Day, Employment, and Residential program, staff along with related professionals, to provide comprehensive AT solutions and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Stay current for applications in their area of practice to support the AT decision-making process.

  • Exhibit innovation for adapting and modifying assistive technology tools and programs.

  • Reviews, utilizes, manages, and troubleshoots technology solutions across the continuum of AT.

  • Has awareness around and is prepared to utilize smart home, remote support, and augmentative, alternative communication technologies.

  • Virtual Reality

  • Obtain full understanding of all VR software applications.

  • Work with assigned Program VR staff to assist in training other program staff to enable them to utilize equipment with participants, on hardware, software and troubleshooting techniques.

  • Keep current with technology trends.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of the Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in relevant field; or associate degree in relevant field and 2 years of experience.

  • Must possess, or acquire within the first six months of employment, a RESNA ATP Certification, or Assistive Technology Certification from a reputable program.

  • Ability to interact well with varying ages and cultures, excellent technical writing, time management, verbal communication and organizational skills.

  • Must be willing to perform occasional job-related travel.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
