Material Handler – Swing Shift

Job Description:

The Otis Service Center’s (OSC) Warehouse Operations department is seeking a candidate for swing shift, to fill a Material Handler position. The successful candidate will perform warehouse distribution activities. The hours are 12 pm to 8:30 pm

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Following all EH&S and safety policies and procedures

  • Material handling of a variety of components, packaging materials and equipment in support of the Maintenance and Modernization businesses

  • Maintaining inventory, such as the storage of electronic parts

  • Shipping outside of the facility

  • Ability to obtain and retain a valid PIV license, inspect and maintain PIV equipment before use

  • Actively to participate in daily housekeeping

  • Performing other duties as assigned

Physical Demand:

If an item weighs more than 50 lbs., employee must ask for assistance in lifting and/or use the appropriate crane, forklift or other lifting devises

Walking, balancing, climbing, standing, twisting/turning, bending/stooping, crawling, crouching, kneeling/squatting, sitting, reaching above shoulder height, reaching forward, lifting (maximum 50 pounds), carrying, pushing/pulling, handling, feeling, digital dexterity, wrist flexion/extension, power grip, working speed, talking, hearing, seeing (with color vision) depth perception

Must be able to wear/use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.

Education:

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent

Basic Requirements:

  • Safety mindset including the ability to follow all safety policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to multi-task, possess a positive attitude towards quality / quantity of product, meet department performance metrics and ability to contribute to process improvements in the group.

  • Ability to work in a warehouse, cross-department and team environment.

  • Candidate must be able to adhere to assigned work schedule, including start time and annual inventory.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft office, Word, Excel & Access required.

  • Knowledge and understanding of warehouse and material handling functions preferred.

  • Prior PIV experience preferred.

  • Familiarity with SDC is preferred.

  • Interpersonal communication skills with team members and ability to communicate using email is a must.
