The Manufacturing Engineer works under the general supervision of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and are responsible for assisting in the control of minor manufacturing engineering programs.

  • Prepares Manufacturing Engineering, Tool Design and Tool Fabrication pre-plan and activity schedules required to assure conformance to contract delivery requirements.

  • Design production systems to meet cost, schedule and quality objectives.

  • Provide sustaining engineering as required; maintain and improve company’s competitive position by identifying, justifying and implementing manufacturing improvements utilizing Lean tools.

  • Assist in the development of technical portions of new business proposals and engineering changes. This could entail the selection of manufacturing methods and production processes, selection of tooling, issuing requests of material estimates, identification of the bill of material and estimating the costs required for implementation.

  • Assists in structuring and monitoring department budgets; performs make-versus-buy analysis and provides related recommendations to management.

  • Interacts with customer organizations including providing recommendations regarding material selections, tools and production configuration and manufacturing tolerances that affect producibility, cost and schedules.

  • Prepares manufacturing process plans, manufacturing engineering operating procedures, manufacturing production operating procedures, Kaman production procedures, vendor instructions for operations sourced outside the company, defines tooling requirements and issuers tool orders to the Tool Fabrication department.

  • Conducts producibility studies to evaluate production process reliability and provides recommendations.

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, Etc.

  • Understanding of related software i.e. NX12, Solidworks, CAPP.

  • Requires familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
