Upstate Steel is currently looking for Welders for carbon steel: structural and plate fabrication at our Blasdell NY plant. We are a family owned company and major fabricator and supplier of structural steel, sheet and plate. We service a variety of industries, including commercial contractors, home builders, municipalities, highway and bridge contractors and DOT work. Our services consist of shearing, sawing, CNC cutting, forming, rolling, and code welding. The ideal candidate is someone looking to work in a fast paced, dynamic industry with a team of motivated coworkers. www.upstatesteel.comResponsibilities:-Ability to read/develop/fabricate according to blueprint and shop drawing requirements-Meet normal acceptable standards of production-Ability to communicate with a team of welders and fabricators-Detects engineering and/or template errors-Sets up and uses all types of metal shop equipment, torches, grinders, saws etc.-Ability to weld to codes D1.1, D1.5, NYS SCM-Welding with SMAW, FCAW and SAW-Strong blueprint and shop drawing reading abilities-Knowledge of layout and the use of templates, squares, tapelines, soapstone, gauging devices-Basic rigging and overhead crane usageRequired Qualifications:-High school diploma or equivalent-Construction and/or industrial work experience required-Some heavy lifting may be necessary-Working conditions can be noisy, dusty, hot, cold-Extended hours may be required during peak productionThis is a full time 40hr/ week position with competitive pay and benefits including group medical insurance, 401K plan, paid time off and holidays.
