Overview The Department of Technology, Design and Technical Education in the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for an adjunct (non-benefitted), semester based faculty position as an instructor in the welding program. As part of USU's land grant mission to make academic programs accessible throughout the state, the position will be physically located at the USU Blanding Campus in Blanding, Utah.

This position is an (non-benefitted) faculty position for the 2024 fall semester and possibly the spring 2025 semester.

Responsibilities The successful applicant for this position will teach courses in the welding program with an emphasis of increasing access and availability to the program which is in high-demand. The primary roles of this position will include teaching morning, afternoon or evening courses to increase program availability for students. Instructional emphasis will be placed on providing excellent instruction in the common arc welding processes - specifically GMAW, FCAW, and SMAW. Specific courses within the work assignment will include SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, OFC, and PAC. The successful candidate for this position will be expected to collaborate with USU welding program faculty to ensure course fidelity and consistency throughout the welding program course offerings.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching the SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, OFC, and PAC processes
  • Teaching afternoon and evening courses
  • Teaching high school (concurrent enrollment) courses
  • Managing, maintaining, and improving the welding facility and equipment
  • Collaborating as a contributing member of a faculty team
  • Fulfilling other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Completion (CC) or equivalent in welding or welding technology from a postsecondary institution
  • At least three years of industry or related experience where primary job responsibilities included consistent use of at least one of the following processes: GMAW, FCAW, SMAW
  • A desire to succeed and a willingness to work to become a better instructor
