Overview Join the USU Blanding Campus team as a counselor/tutor for the UB Summer Programs. This 5-week intensive program is dedicated to supporting first-generation and/or low-income students in key academic subjects such as English, math, science, foreign language, and study skills. As a counselor, you'll play a vital role in the academic and personal development of participants, providing mentorship and tutoring support on a daily basis.

  • Live in the residence hall throughout the duration of the program.
  • Mentor and tutor participants, offering guidance and support in their academic pursuits.
  • Conduct engaging activities to promote team building and foster a supportive community environment. Benefits:

Responsibilities Responsibilities:

  • Assist UB participants in improving academic achievement either in a group or individually by meeting with them on a regular basis to complete class assignments and work on study skills.
  • Must be able to tutor participants in English, math, science, PE, and/or Foreign Language.
  • Monitor attendance and academic performance of participants on a daily basis.
  • Enforce the rules and regulations of the USU Blanding Campus including housing and Upward Bound Program.
  • Meet with director, program coordinator, and teachers regularly to ascertain participants' progress and address any concerns.
  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and implementation of social, cultural, and recreational activities.
  • Assist participants with financial aid applications and scholarships for fall semester.
  • Maintain a productive, positive attitude and confidentiality with other counselors, instructors, and UB staff.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Upward Bound Director and Program Coordinator.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or have completed at least 21 credits of college work at time of application.
  • Must possess the ability to handle high levels of stress.
  • Job offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check
  • Must complete and adhere to the USU travel and driving policies.
  • No other employment during the summer program and minimal college class load to ensure focus on position responsibilities. Preferred Qualifications:
