**Therapeutic Classroom Teacher Job Summary Under the supervision of the EBF Therapeutic Classroom Program (TCP) Administrator, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive educational services in compliance with program guidelines, policies and procedures for children who have mental health concerns and/or special education needs. The Therapeutic Classroom Teacher is responsible for integrating the curriculum into the classroom by creating lesson plans, and developing and implementing individual learning plans to meet the needs of every child, including observing, assessing, and documenting each childs progress. The Therapeutic Classroom Teacher works in collaboration with the other program staff to support each childs developmental, social emotional and behavioral needs. The Therapeutic Classroom Teacher will be an active participant in planning for the educational needs of students enrolled in the program. Other responsibilities include maintaining active supervision of students and providing ongoing communication with parents, the program coordinator, and resident district personnel.

Essential Functions (Not All Inclusive):

  • Provide comprehensive educational services for children with special education needs and/or mental health concerns in education classrooms, maintaining compliance in the programs guidelines and procedures. Strictly follow the highest standards of confidentiality and ethics when working with children, parents, and peers.
  • Observe, document, level and finalize each childs development using tools developed for the program. Observe each child on a regular basis to establish an Individual Learning Plan (ILP), writing specific goals to achieve measurable outcomes that align with the childs IEP and/or therapy plan goals. Responsible for recording authentic observations and documentation to accurately measure progress toward child outcomes.
  • Assist parents by providing individualized strategies in order to continue curriculum learning and progress towards meeting child goals in the home. Communicate with parents regarding the childs overall development including the childs successes and areas of needed improvement.
  • Collaborate to support the educational, mental health, and social emotional needs of individual children.

Qualifications:

  • Iowa teacher licensure K-12 Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD certification preferred. Instructional Strategist I will also be considered
  • Preferred educational coursework and/or experience in working with children with disabilities, behavior, trauma, or related areas
  • Experience working with children with identified special needs and/or mental health concerns
  • Must be able to relate to and communicate effectively with children, parents, and peers
  • Must have a collaborative mindset and the ability to work as a positive team member
  • Must have superior attention to detail and knowledge of/experience with writing, implementing, and progress monitoring IEPs
