Location: Birmingham

Ridge’s continuing success, has created opportunities to join a new sustainability team in our Birmingham office. Building on our strength of sustainability offering across the country, Birmingham is creating a dedicated sustainability team to enhance the delivery of projects locally.

This creates multiple opportunities for candidates to join building on our past strengths and successes.

The roles available are wide and varied, and include;

  • Sustainability Consultant

  • Graduate Sustainability Consultant

  • Building Physics and Dynamic Modeller

Sustainability has a broad reaching scope and scale, and this brings multiple opportunities to grow, learn and develop. Our successful candidates will be given every opportunity to broaden their knowledge to encompass more than a narrow element of sustainability on dynamic and diverse projects. Candidates will be involved in developing, governing, and delivering sustainability strategies from inception, through to hand over for buildings and property portfolios

Successful candidates will have a real desire to learn, grow and forge a long-term career within an award-winning multi-discipline consultancy.

The team provide a range of sustainability services direct to client organisations, external consultant teams, contractors, as well as to our own Ridge multi-disciplinary project teams.

The different roles offer varying work roles and responsibilities but will include;

  • BREEAM Assessments

  • HQM Assessments

  • SKA Assessments

  • DREAM Assessments

  • WELL Assessments

  • Embodied carbon reviews

  • Net Zero Carbon reviews

  • Assist with producing technical briefing notes and reports

  • Assist project stakeholders with all issues relating to sustainability

  • Expand the role to encompass wider issues of sustainability pre and post construction.

  • Production of reports and drawings Assist with building IES dynamic models

  • Researching alternative materials to offer best value solutions and reduce in use carbon emissions

  • Assist with producing Energy Performance Certificates and Display Energy Certificates

  • Assist with producing technical briefing notes and reports as required

  • Assist project stakeholders as part of a specialist team with all issues relating to sustainability

  • Expand the role of Sustainability Consultant role to encompass wider issues of sustainability pre and post construction.

  • Production of reports and drawings where appropriate

Regulations and Software

  • Training in BREEAM and other similar sustainability assessment methodologies

  • An understanding of Building Regulation Part L

  • A good eye for detail

  • Familiarity with IES software would be an advantage, if not willingness to be trained to operate the software

  • A knowledge and understanding of CIBSE TM54 assessments would be an advantage

  • Knowledge of renewable and LZCT options

  • Experience with planning support documents (NRIAs, London Plan etc)

  • Able to produce concise verbal and written reports to a good standard of English

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of renewable and LZCT options

  • A full driving licence
