Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Net Zero Consultant to join an established Sustainable Development Group based in our Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff or Manchester offices, but also part of a wider UK sustainability group.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering energy and carbon management services for several major public and private sector clients, helping them to meet their Net Zero targets and ambitions. Our clients cover a range of sectors, including public, commercial, industrial and education.

To be successful in the role you will need to have a good technical understanding of building services, building physics, and low and zero carbon energy generation technologies. Although the role is quite broad, the successful candidate will be given plenty of support and mentoring from technical specialists in the team, where required.

Successful candidates should have experience of the following duties associated with the role. Experience of all is not essential:

  • Delivery of net zero strategies and heat decarbonisation plans

  • Conducting energy audits of a range of different building types to identify energy saving opportunities

  • Developing robust scenario models to support the development of energy and carbon management strategies for clients with large portfolios of buildings

  • Support building services design colleagues to conduct options analyses and specify energy efficient and low carbon buildings and technologies

  • Supporting district heating specialists in preparing techno-economic models and feasibility studies for low carbon district heating

  • Supporting specialists in preparing renewable energy technology feasibility studies

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in engineering or related discipline (building services and/or energy related qualifications are highly desirable).

  • Professional experience in sustainability and/or energy consulting, management, green building consulting or other related experience in the consulting industry and/or private or public sector.

  • Building performance analysis experience.

  • Experience of energy auditing, and preparing energy audit reports.

  • Be able to show how you can work to deadlines and a fixed budget.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Membership of appropriate professional institute desirable (e.g. CIBSE, Energy Institute, IEMA IMechE)

  • If not currently chartered, working towards chartership.

  • Other energy related certifications also desirable, e.g. CEM, CMVP, DEC assessor, ISO 50001.
