Field Service Technician – Home based, covering Northern Region

You are ideally based within 1 hour of Manchester and East Midlands airports.

Are you a customer focussed field service technician or Armed Forces Engineer looking to work with complex, life-saving security equipment?

As a Field Service Technician here at Leidos, you provide effective and efficient technical and customer support for our complex baggage handling systems at airports, you will cover the Northern region, including Manchester and East Midlands airports.

You’re ideally qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering or an equivalent, we are also keen to hear from engineers with an Armed Forces background looking for a new career.

You’ll be the primary engineer working on some recently won contracts with a major airport group, installing, commissioning, troubleshooting, repairing and testing a variety of complex X-ray and CT based equipment such as body scanners and explosive trace detection systems, many of which are integrated into larger systems.

When the systems are up and running, you will carry out scheduled and unscheduled corrective and preventive maintenance and radiation surveys. Reporting any design, reliability and system bugs and quality issues that may arise, also identifying the Root Cause of repetitive parts failures. You’ll also provide written reports on completed maintenance, machine faults, down times and availability.

You’ll join a national team of 8 close-knit engineers, you will cover the Northern Region. You enjoy customer interaction; providing great service, customer/technical support and training.

This is a field-based position, normal working hours are 8am – 4.30pm, however it is expected that you will need to complete overtime as required and be part of the on call, 7-day rota.

About You

Ideally qualified in electrical or mechanical engineering or an equivalent, we are also keen to hear from engineers with an Armed Forces background looking for a new career.

It would be ideal to hold an electrical qualification such as 2391/2392 or 17th/18th edition

You will have some experience of maintaining complex electromechanical systems such as PLC controlled machinery, X-Ray or CT tech.

Good customer facing skills, providing great service and training on equipment.

Willing to work on call and off shift where needed. Also comfortable with regular travel within the region and occasionally internationally.

You will require a full, clean UK driving license. To fulfill the requirements of the role, you will need to live within 1 hour drive of Manchester and East Midlands Airports.

Due to the nature of the role, you must be able to obtain and maintain an Airside Security Pass.
