SOL Engineering, LLC Wastewater Sampling Technician in Birmingham, Alabama

SOL Engineering Services, LLC is an engineering and technical services provider with over 20 years of experience. The firm has approximately 100 professionals, including engineers, scientists, and project managers, who utilize best practices in management, quality, and engineering principles to ensure project delivery.

SOL Engineering is seeking dedicated, experienced candidates to join our team as a Wastewater Sampling Technician. This role will collect and analyze wastewater samples at designated sites. This position involves installing and maintaining sampling equipment, adhering to safety protocols, and working as part of a team to monitor and assess wastewater treatment processes.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing job duties.

  • Conduct wastewater sampling at 3 to 5 designated sites in the East Central and West Central public health districts twice weekly. The schedule is on-call, and there is no guaranteed amount of work.

  • Perform initial site visits to inspect and install autosamplers at the influent end of designated wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) sites. Responsible for receiving autosamplers and transporting them to assigned sites.

  • Participate in coordination and planning meetings as necessary.

  • Attend training sessions relevant to the project and job duties.

  • Work as part of a 2-person sampling crew, if required.

  • Collect samples for SARS-CoV-2 or other pathogens, as directed, two days per week between Monday and Thursday.

  • Utilize provided autosamplers and associated equipment to collect 24-hour composite samples.

Education and Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or its equivalent

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

  • Must have the ability to pass a physical examination.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and background checks.

  • Physical ability to carry up to 30 pounds.

  • Previous experience with wastewater sampling or environmental monitoring is a plus.

  • Must have strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
