Job Description

The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. seeks a Software Architect in Birmingham, AL, with the ability to telecommute with appropriate telecommuting systems for up to three days per week, with a minimum of two days per week in the office. Participate in all aspects of PNC's Enterprise Data Management Technology organization activities. Specific duties include: (i) maintaining the opensource software platform used for analytical model development, training, and deployment, employing technology stacks including JupyterHub, Slurm, Conda, GPUs, Rstudio and Kubernetes; (ii) defining functional software designs and application systems architecture across all technologies and platforms; (iii) designing technical infrastructure for software application development, including specific databases, programming languages, utilities, and testing approaches; (iv) assessing software defects and issues discovered during quality assurance tests and providing support for resolutions; (v) addressing enterprise-wide platform and technology requirements for software application development; and (vi) developing detailed software development instructions in order to accommodate business needs through software automation.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Engineering, or Technology Management plus 5 years of experience with software architecture design and HPC application development is required. Must have experience with: (i) proposing viable technical solution designs based on specific technology stacks that support user and functional requirements, use cases and business objectives; (ii) designing applications using Design patterns and developing reusable components; (iii) application development methodologies including waterfall, agile development including Scrum and Test Driven Development (TDD); (iv) Object Oriented design and development; (v) designing architecture for Slurm to use applications including JupyterHub, Rstudio Workbench and Connect on the servers; (vi) analyzing bug fixes and feature releases with HPC scheduler vendor to keep the platform updated and avoid vulnerabilities; (vii) service oriented architecture and design, including security based implementations; and (viii) UNIX shell scripting.

40 hours/week, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
