B.L. Harbert International is looking for a Mechanical Procurement Specialist to work in our Birmingham, Alabama office. This individual would report to the Mechanical Procurement Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Review project procurement requirements, solicit proposals from vendors, prepare and analyze Quote Comparison Sheets (QCS)
  • Assist with development of Material Master Data files and Mechanical Procurement templates.
  • Assist with preparation of Construction Document Deliverables for Client Approval (Submittals/OandMs/ etc.)
  • Manage the Issuance of Purchase Requests (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
  • Expedite Purchase Orders with vendors and manage open Purchase Order
  • Perform Quality Control checks on mechanical orders in warehouse and assist Material Control Operations during material receipts.
  • Process Change Orders, OSDs, and assist with Accounts Payable
  • Perform quantity takeoffs of materials and systems, as needed by operations and/or estimating.
  • Support On-site Project Coordinators and Site Personnel as
  • Support Operations by attending factory witness testing of major Requirements:
  • S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
  • 3 years of experience in managing projects
  • Ability to travel to international project locations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, (Teams, Word, Excel)
  • Proficient with estimating/quantifying software such as: On-Center-Takeoff (OST), Fast Est (FastDUCT/ FastPIPE), Trimble MEP, Bluebeam, or similar material quantification programs

Preferences:

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with Site Utilities, Fire Protection, Plumbing, and HVAC
  • Experience with Commissioning and Balancing of MEP systems
  • Experience with Troubleshooting Complex MEP systems
  • Experience with Instrumentation and Controls
  • Experience with BIM/3-D modeling Physical Demands:

To perform the duties of this job, the employee must:

  • Have the ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overhead
  • Have the ability to stoop, bend, walk, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Have the ability to lift, carry and/or move up to 25 of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc.
  • Have the ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing required
  • Possess the manual dexterity to operate office equipment, filing, and perform specialized skills
  • Possess a high degree of concentration necessary in a busy office environment
