Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

The Diesel Mechanic will be tasked with fixing and maintaining heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steer loaders, off-road dump trucks, and locomotives. The mechanic will handle approximately 10 pieces of equipment, focusing primarily on reactive maintenance tasks including engine issues, oil filters, and hydraulics. Responsibilities include diagnosing problems and collaborating with a team of 2-3 mechanics to resolve each issue efficiently. Additional duties involve controlling corrosion, performing preventative maintenance when equipment is in the shop, and operating equipment within the yard in coordination with other operators.

Work Environment

The work environment is on-site at a CMC steel location and within a mechanic shop. The area is non-climate controlled, and mechanics are required to wear a full uniform. The role involves working with equipment that may be covered in dirt, mud, gravel, or water, so expect to get dirty. Each mechanic will have their own locker for tool storage. Work is performed in 4 different bays, depending on the equipment, and in a scrap yard where scrap steel/metal is processed for resale to other manufacturing facilities.
